I get this question often, especially when people ask me what I do professionally and I tell them I’m a Business/Life Coach and Trainer. It’s a great question and rather than answer from my role as the coach, I’d like to share from the other side as the coachee. I said yes, I WANT a business coach in 2004 and I have had one ever since. On occasion I have had several coaches at one time each focusing on a specific area in my world.
It is a decision that I have never regretted. There are MANY things competing for those hard earned dollars and it is the best investment in myself I’ve ever made. It’s the opportunity to have someone else with a different perspective to challenge my thinking, spark insights in a ways that has promoted my own personal growth and my business growth. My coaches have been able to see my world from 10,000 feet as opposed to being IN it with me, which that view is often very difficult to see past what is right in front of me.
My coaches have challenged me, they’ve made me uncomfortable which in turn has promoted growth financially, in my business results not to mention I’m a better person. They have been able to see patterns in my thinking and behaviors which allowed me to identify obstacles to my success. The rate of return from my investment is not measurable.
I believe in coaching because I know what it’s done for me. Yes I’ve had a few coaches that I hired for a short period of time, and I even found a few that did not match up to what I was needing or wanted. It’s like anything, you’ve got to find a good fit.
So which area of your life is not meeting your expectations? Where could you use a new, different and non-judgmental perspective that creates a personal or business breakthrough that gets your closer to who you were meant to be?
