Leaders aren’t born they are made. I have a belief that their leadership begins when they value their people. What does value really mean? You can give value, you can add value and you can demonstrate value. They are all verbs.
You give value by understanding what your values are to give. There are simple analysis for this and it is found in words that stand for what you believe in your core, they affect decisions you make and can be used to help align you with your goals. When you know your values, you can in turn share them!
You can add value. Adding value to others starts with understanding what others need, what their passions are, what support is required so that they can achieve all they want in their lives. How do you “add” value each day? Possibly this is a question you can ask yourself at the end of each day, “How did I add value to someone today?” Reflect on this. Thank you John Maxwell.
Demonstrate value. Walk the talk. Never forget that you are always being watched. Leaders are influence, nothing more, nothing less. As a leader you demonstrate in the way you model behaviors. How do you handle conflict? How do you handle crisis? How do you respond to goals hit and promises kept? Do you complete what you promise you will do?
People hear your words and they feel your attitude. Your attitude towards leadership isn’t everything but its the main thing.
Remember you are leading at work AND at home. What will you do differently today?
