Can I say everything?! I’ve seen values be the reason for individuals not succeeding in their role at work. One client after being released from their position realized that out of their 5 core values, only one was present in their role. After digging they could see how it was the lack of shared valued that created the situation of dis-satisfaction and lack of results. Lesson learned, they now know what to look for in their next position.
Research has shown when there is clarity of personal values and a clarity of organizational values individuals will be more engaged. And to take it a step further people feel better about their professional lives because they are honoring their core values.
So ask yourself:
- What values are important to me in my career (profession)?
- Where are you currently expressing those values – in other words where are they present?
- If not, how can you get in alignment and close the gap? For me this is an integrity scan with myself.
